10-08-25 School progress report #1

We are in second week of tuition; learning has been going on as usual with teachers completing various syllabi. We are soon closing for a short Holiday for the pupils & teachers to relax a beat. However teachers realized need for revision books since they have completed most course books. We therefore sat as a staff and ordered for some revision books. I have sent this order to David for formal request. Moreover it was a good moment with good turn up from both teachers and pupils. Teachers and pupils have been busy with class work. We are looking forward to your continuous positive support.

10-07-30 End of term

The school is officially closed today 30th of July 2010, 3rd term will begin on 6th of September 2010, however we have agreed to have classes 3 to 6 coming on 16th of August for remedial teaching. The results are good in all classes but very good in class six. This is as a result of good work done by teachers and good cooperation between the teachers and the pupils. It is my hope that these results will be improved even better before the end of the year. Our main vision is to make st Christine school a center of academic excellence. My request is take these pupils for a day tour in Nakuru to break classroom boredom. I have also sent the results for you to see.
David.

09-11-03 Message from David

Hi
we are all fine, pupils and teachers. No more cases of disease, its contained.

09-10-27 Cholera

David:
"We are starting our 2nd tests tomorrow (091028) and all sick pupils are back in School learning.
There is another cholera outbreak in the village and I’m thinking of inviting a health officer to assess the situation. Otherwise there is no serious case so far.
"

Håkan:
"Please do! Maybe you invite the parents to a meeting with him to get instructions on how to deal with it. If you have homes with poor standard when it comes to drinking water and hygiene and not enough to eat for the small ones, then you assess the situation and give me an update.

I´m a little surprised because it´s mainly a problem of the malnourished and in places without decent water. Our kids seem well fed to me and most of them clean and healthy. The only thing we can do at school is keep on washing hands with soap and keep track on where you get the vegetables. I´d rather see you not serving uncooked vegetables or fruit until the cholera is under control.

I´ll tell the visitors to have vaccination.
"

09-10-21 Disease

There is an outbreak of a disease in the village and has infected our pupils in class five. Ten of our boys and girls have headache and coughing is the main sign that can be noticed. We have however tried to treat them at Othoro dispensary and now they are recovering, we are further assessing the rate of infection daily on other classes. So far it is only class five who are infected and I think it was from their homes.
David

09-10-15 Computer programme

David: We opened the school today, and turn up is good. All teachers reported and they started working immediatly. The library is running up and children have started reading in there as from today. They are really happy and very much interested in studying in the new library. I hope this will improve their perfomance a great deal.

Duncan: The school has just closed today and it was a good one.

I am happy our best pupil in class five managed 401 marks out of 500. We are also resuming for tution on 14/04/09.

David: We are starting on Tuesday after Easter for tuition, we are also working on the books list for the library. The results are good and our kids sat for same exams with Anyona. Their no 1 is the same position with our position 17 pupil in grade five. We want to re-double our efforts in all disciplines including games, music and others.
